Data is always valuable, and in a school environment this is extremely important. Think of a scenario where you have a student who has booked a course, excursions and accommodation with you; but from the moment when he or she books, to the moment when he or she arrives at the school, there are changes which are requested. And these changes involve people from different departments. Then, later on when the student is at the school, he or she goes to the Director of Studies (for example) to speak about the problem, and all the other issues encountered are aired during this conversation. In most situations, the DOS is only aware of issues related to the student’s academic experience at the school.

Adding Diary Entries

Let's say from the Academics department, they send an alert via the Diary to the Student Welfare department in relation to the attendance percentage of a particular student being low. Thanks to the efficiency of the system, Student Welfare can either contact the student straight off, or alert a teacher via the system itself to pass on the message to the student. The idea is to avoid the alert being ''lost in translation'' when using multiple media such as email, or word of mouth.
